There's good reason why touring is a popular activity up here: there are so many great regions and communities to visit. Here is a taste of what awaits you.
In the South Alaska Highway region, your first Yukon community is Watson Lake, Canada's "Gateway to the Yukon". Welcoming visitors to the true north, the region contains pristine lakes, boreal forests and wild rivers. The community offers travellers all kinds of services and attractions. Teslin is a picturesque lakeside community along the Alaska Highway. Originally a summer home for the coastal Tlingit, Teslin was permanently settled around 1903. Today there are variety of services for travellers and tourists.
The Southern Lakes region is a playground of waterways and trails and includes the communities of Carcross, Tagish, Marsh Lake and Atlin, BC. Drive the Southern Lakes to see all the activities and attractions the communities have to offer.
Haines Junction, Destruction Bay and Beaver Creek are in Kluane the soul, of the Yukon. These "mountain towns" provide wildlife viewing opportunities including Dall sheep and access to all of Kluane Park's trails and spectacular beauty.
Whitehorse has it all. A major city with a small town personality, it's the perfect jumping off point for adventures of all descriptions.
Tucked away in the east-central Yukon, the secluded Campbell region features vast tracts of wilderness ideal for backcountry adventures. Towns of Ross River and Faro are located along the highways and feature wildlife viewing areas and plenty of campgrounds.
Silver Trail communities of Mayo and Keno City provide access to an area rich in mining history and scenic vistas.
Dawson City needs little introduction. All the history of the Klondike Gold Rush – amidst stunning scenery – is still here today. On the road to the Klondike you'll visit Carmacks, Pelly and Stewart Crossing.
And anyone looking for a journey few visitors experience should head to North Yukon along the Dempster Highway. Its Arctic magic can only be experienced, not described. Everything is different, from the color of the light to the wildlife. The Vuntut Gwitchin First Nations community of Old Crow can be accessed by scheduled air service.
